Collecting your race pack:

  1. Make sure you have your rider number with you. You will receive this in October before registration. Remember to bring along your ID/Drivers license/Passport.
  2. If you are wanting to make a last minute substitution, the substitutions desk will assist and process this for you. Make sure you do this before collecting your race pack.
  3. Make your way across to the race pack collection station with your rider number and sign the indemnity alongside your name to receive your race pack and goodie bag. 
  4. If you have pre-ordered a rider bag, don’t forget to pick it up from the duffle bag collection station.

Once all the essentials are done, you are free to experience and enjoy the rest of what registration day has to offer! Have lunch with your friends and family, enjoy a wine tasting and experience a great afternoon out as you gear up to start Stage 1 the following day.

Know the Rules

Please make sure you read and understand the Race Rules before the start of the event.

Rider Checklists


We recommend that you bring no (or as few as possible) valuables to the race. We cannot take responsibility for valuables lost during the course of the event.

What to Pack:
  • Sleeping bag & Pillow
  • Toiletries

  • Beanie and scarf & gloves for evenings
  • Warm long pants
  • Casual clothes
  • Slops
  • Washing powder

Your Bicycle

Your bike should be in perfect working order at the start of the FNB W2W MTB. It will be subjected to severe riding conditions and we recommend that you replace any old parts that may not survive the distance. Select tyres that are suitable for harsh conditions. The use of tubeless tyres is highly recommended. Check your slime levels and top up slime. Various bike shops will provide repairs and servicing in the race villages. We anticipate a high demand for their services, so draw on them only when absolutely necessary. Replacement parts will be sold at normal retail prices.
Equipment checklist:

  • Helmet, gloves, cycling shoes
  • 3 sets of cycling shorts, tops, socks
  • Wind breaker 
  • Sun glasses 
  • Hydration pack with space for spares – a capacity of 3 litres. 
  • GPS /Heart rate monitor, bike computer (optional) + Chargers 
  • Slime/Stan’s, bomb and adaptor, plugs etc, 
  • Gators, pump, brake pads, drop out, chain, links, pins, 
  • Cable ties, duct tape 
  • Lube (squirt) 

First Aid Kit

  • Foil survival blanket 
  • Three first aid dressings 
  • Five adhesive first aid plasters  
  • Sun block 
  • Pain killers – NOT available in the Medical Tent.

Race Services

Massage Services

EPT are the official onsite massage service, where therapy is administered with up to date treatment techniques and effective treatment plans executed by highly qualified therapists. They also offer a variety of massage products that enables the client to do self treatment to ensure overall health of the body. Their product assists in various muscular support, for e.g. Myofacial release, Ice therapy, strapping, taping and general advice is also available during the event.

Massages are provided every half hour on Day 1 & Day 2. Massages on Day 3 can be booked by prior arrangement. Ensure that you make your bookings well in advance! Bookings on the day will be possible, but it is advisable to pre-book. 

30 minute massage slot: R330
60 minute massage slot: R550

Emergency App

MySOS has been the recommended emergency app for the FNB W2W MTB events since 2014.

We recommend all riders download the app for the event. Click below for more information on how to use the app.

The Squirt Bike Wash

Squirt Lube are offering a free complete bike wash and lube service in the race village at Oak Valley for the full duration of the Wines2Whales. A Bike wash is also available at the finish in Onrus.

Please note: Accommodation offered as part of any given entry package for the Chardonnay, Pinotage and Shiraz events is only for the duration of each event – It does not include the night before the stage 1 start or the night after stage 3 is completed.
