Giving Back

We care about our communities

The FNB Wines2Whales has always proudly supported the communities through which the race passes as well as numerous worthy causes that are close to our hearts and to the hearts of the thousands of yearly participants. Each year, an allocation of free entries is presented to these causes and these are then sold to raise much needed funds for their respective projects.

Riding for a Cause?

Show your support for one of the official charities by raising funds while you train for and ride the 2019 FNB Wines2Whales. You could also create your teams's own fundraising project if you'd like to support a separate charity of your choosing. Share your cause on social media and rally your friends and family to support your cause.
How to fundraise:
  1. Visit the 2019 FNB Wines2Whales GivenGain fundraising page;
  2. Click on “Start Fundraising”;
  3. Select an existing charity or search for another fundraising project you wish to support. If your charity is not listed on GivenGain, request that they apply for a charity account to assist in their fundraising mission. Click here to begin the process.

Botrivier Crèche Initiative

The FNB Wines2Whales has adopted various crèches in the town of Botrivier in a continued effort to give back to this impoverished community along the route of the event. FNB Wines2Whales and its partners see this as an investment in the future of kids and schools to assist in providing quality and educational care. The project is aimed at the renovation, maintenance and supply of necessary items of and to crèches in the Botrivier community. An educational library has been established with the help of Big Box containers converted for storage and safely kept on Beaumont Wine Farm.

The Crèches supported in Botrivier are Khulani Daycare Centre, Lucky Point Crèche, Angels United Crèche, ABC/123 Crèche, Kammaland Crèche and in the Thandi Community Crèche. Through this initiative the FNB Wines2Whales believes that we can make a sustainable difference, and with your and our partners support, in many more communities along the Wines2Whales route and beyond.

Cape Trails Youth Development Initiative

The Cape Trails program is an FNB Wines2Whales youth development initiative that aims to upskill and educate youngsters and offer them a source of income. Aswell, Pikke, Denzel and Murzeon are the founding members and they mentor willing and able youth to effectively manage their own SMME and destination; in addition to this, they train, equip and support Cape Trails to build and maintain trails which create everlasting and magical experiences for mountain bikers of all levels. These hard-working individuals are contracted to provide services during the FNB W2W events and at many other events and we cannot express our gratitude enough for the effort they put in.
